A Letter from Our New President

Dear Alumni and Friends:

During the month of November I tend to spend time pondering the many gifts and blessings I experience in my life. Most important are the many wonderful people I have the opportunity to come into contact with as a priest and educator.  The generous nature of those who are a part of our school community is a beautiful example of what I find.  This report is an indication of the sense of giving that characterizes the Bethlehem Catholic High School community.  On behalf of our faculty and students I thank you for the many ways you give of yourselves so that we can continue our mission of creating an educational community where Faith is central to all we do.

As the new President of BECA, I have enjoyed a warm welcome from the community and I am impressed with the faculty, staff, and administrators who have given and continue to give so much of themselves for the good of our students.  Our students are truly a blessing and it is a privilege to work with them each day.  We all know how difficult growing up can be and the world we live in seems to make it much more difficult.  I believe a Catholic school environment does make a difference and allows the planting of seeds that blossom throughout the lives of our graduates.

As we plan for and move forward into the bright future of Bethlehem Catholic, I am encouraged by your prayerful support and generosity.  Already, I have come to understand the great spirit that pervades the Becahi community.  I know that working together we will be able to provide what our teachers and students need in order to develop the gifts and talents God has given them.

With the completion of the renovation of the gym and auditorium and the creation of the student fitness center (please stop by to see them if you can, they are incredible), we are now turning our attention to other areas of the school that are in need of some TLC.  We will begin refurbishing the cafeteria in the spring semester and are planning for the refurbishing of our classroom wings beginning this summer.  As part of that project we intend to include the latest in educational technology in each classroom.  Also, the plans for the new gym annex/wrestling room are complete.  We are in need of a few major donors to help make those plans a reality.  Naming opportunities are available and bricks are still being sold.  Any financial assistance you can provide for these projects is greatly needed and will be much appreciated.

Two other areas of financial need are our scholarship funds and the school's endowment.  Their continued growth is crucial for the long term strength of Bethlehem Catholic as we continue to strive to open our doors wide to families who desire a Becahi education for their children.  Once again, no matter what your financial situation may be, gifts small, medium and large make the continued growth of these funds possible.

One of my goals over the next few years is to develop an active and involved alumni association.  Many of our graduates are spread far and wide and I have heard from a number of our alums how much they wish to reconnect with friends and classmates.  I believe our Development Office can provide assistance in making those connections possible.  But we will need your assistance in locating other alumni and helping to make those connections.  In the meantime, please keep in touch with us and let us know how we can better serve the whole Bethlehem Catholic family.

With much gratitude.

Rev. Robert Finlan
President
