GPA: There are 4 Levels of Classes at Bethlehem Catholic: Level 1 = Fundamental/Basic Level 2 = College Prep Level 3 = Honors Level 4 = Advanced Placement (AP) The GPAs are weighted based upon the Levels of classes taken. THE FOLLOWING CHART IS USED TO CALCULATE GPA: QUALITY POINT CONVERSION CHART
**Band, Band Front, PE, Health and Driver Education DO NOT count toward GPA** GPA is then Calculated using the following formula: Sum (Total Quality Points x Adjusted Credits Earned) Sum (Adjusted Credits Earned) **GPA is a Cumulative Career GPA (grades 9-12) **Full credits are not awarded for classes until the end of the school year, therefore, first quarter GPAs are based upon 0.25 credits for each 1 credit class; second quarter GPAs are based upon 0.50 credits for each 1 credit class; third quarter GPAs are based upon 0.75 credits for each 1 credit class. HONOR ROLL: Students whose grades average a 90 or higher are awarded 1st Honor status each marking period. Students whose grades average 85 or higher are awarded 2nd Honor status. There are no specific GPAs that equate to 1st Honors or 2nd Honors. Classes such PE, Health and Driver Education DO NOT count toward Honor Roll status. To achieve honors, a student must have a passing grade in all subjects and conduct. Honor roll will not be awarded, also, for students earning an "I" in any class. Honor Roll is determined using 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter averages respectively. SEMESTER AVERAGES AND FINAL YEAR AVERAGE: Semester 1 average (MAV) is calculated using the following formula: (Quarter 1 x 2) + (Quarter 2 x 2) + Mid-Term Exam 5 Semester 2 average (S2A) is calculated using the following formula: (Quarter 3 x 2) + (Quarter 4 x 2) + Final Exam 5 Final Year Average is calculated by the following formula: Semester 1 (MAV) + Semester 2 (S2A) 2 |
