TRANSPORTATION REQUEST

Effective with the 2008-2009 school year, all public school districts are requiring parents to complete a bus transportation request form for each student.  If parents do not complete this form, the local public school district will not provide transportation for that particular student.  Forms must be returned to the Main Office by March 31st.  Any questions, please contact Mrs. Jane Schortz at (610) 866-0791, Extension 17.

WEATHER NOT PERMITTING

Since our local public school district transports the majority of our students, in the event the Bethlehem Area School District is closed due to inclement weather, Bethlehem Catholic High School will not be in session.  Announcement to this effect will be made over WFMZ-TV, Channel 69 and over the local radio stations; i.e., WLEV-FM 100.7 – WCTO-FM 96.1 – WEST-AM 1400 – WAEB-AM 790 and WAEB-FM (B-104).

HELP AVOID AN ACCIDENT

Parents are asked to please follow this regulation:  No student should be dropped off or picked up in the front of the building.  This is a definite safety issue and must be followed to avoid any problems with staff and buses driving in and out of the area.  Please adhere to this both in the morning and in the afternoon.  Students should be picked up and dropped off either on the gym or the auditorium side.  We need everyone to follow the traffic signs posted.

DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM

Our Driver Education Program is sponsored through the Colonial IU #20 with financial support from the Bethlehem Area School District.  Both the classroom and the on-the-road phases are taught by Mr. Grasso, who is also employed by the IU and is a state-certified Driver Education instructor.  He is also certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to administer the skill test for the actual driver’s license.

Sophomores are scheduled for 30+hours of classroom theory.  Six hours of the on-the-road phase are scheduled mainly during the school, after school and during the summer months.

Completion of both phases of the course allows student eligibility for insurance reductions and receiving the senior license one year after securing the junior license.  Some students, who already have their driver’s license, take the on-the-road phase to improve their driving skills and to be eligible for the benefits listed above.

Students may sign up for the on-the-road phase by contacting Mr. Grasso or call his office (610) 866-0791, Extension 33.
