ART 1
This course is for sophomores, juniors and seniors. It offers a
concentration in the basic skills of drawing, painting, printmaking,
design and crafts. Film and video are used to provide learning
enrichment.
Prerequisite: Teacher of course approval.

ART 2
Students are accepted
into this course on teacher approval. This program continues to develop skills, to stimulate imagination
and creativity, to develop individual potential and to explore new
media.
Prerequisite: Art 1 and teacher of course approval.

HONORS ART 3
This is an individual program for advanced students designed to
challenge and stimulate talented students.
Prerequisite: Art 1, Art 2 and teacher of course approval.

HONORS ART 4
This course is designed for the serious art student. Projects
include portfolio preparation, art history studies, and self-generated
assignments. Students will be required to exhibit responsible work
habits and present a quarterly project schedule.
Prerequisite: Teacher of course approval.

HONORS ART 5
This is a continuation of the principles and ideas of Honors Art
4. This course is open to the serious art student who will pursue
undergraduate art studies. Critique of student art work and
preparation for student exhibitions are integral parts of the course.
Prerequisite: Teacher of course approval.

STRUCTURAL DRAWING 1
This course offers an exploration into the basics of drafting and
mechanical drawing. Through studies in isometric and orthographic
projections, perspective and visual problem solving, students will
become familiar with the important relationships between engineering,
design and architecture.
Prerequisite: Teacher of course approval.

HONORS STRUCTURAL DRAWING 2
Students are encouraged to explore possibilities within the engineering
or drafting fields. Specialized projects include experiences in
architectural, industrial and structural design.
Prerequisite: Structural Drawing 1 and teacher of course
approval.

MUSIC THEORY
Music Theory is a class geared towards the musician who wants to enhance
musical knowledge. Ear training, transposition, and music history are
included in the course sequence. This class has also been adapted for the
non-musicians who would like to gain a basic understanding of music theory as
well as learn to read music in the treble and bass clefs. The class
includes lecture, performance, ear training, and other such activities.

BAND/BAND FRONT
Band is a course for the musician. Band Front is for the
non-musician. Students are rostered together. Students may
choose to be an instrumentalist or a band front member.
Instrumentalists rehearse music for assemblies, programs, seasonal
concerts, sporting events and an annual spring trip. The Band
Front is composed of majorettes, silks and color guard. These
groups create and perform routines appropriate to their group with
conducting music provided by the ensemble. Members of the band are
required to be involved in both marching and concert band.
