Retreat Team

The overnight retreat program at Bethlehem Catholic High School began in the Fall of 1976. Since that time, it has changed and flourished. All retreats are held at the Brainerd Presbyterian Retreat Center located in Snydersville, PA. Brainerd is the perfect mountain setting to begin a new exciting relationship with Jesus!

The Encounter Weekend Retreat, open to sophomores, juniors and seniors, is based upon the Cursillo Retreat model. The theme of the weekend is "pass it on". It allows each individual to explore how God lives in many aspects of our lives. The weekend opens with exploring how we turn away from God through sin. As the weekend progresses, it focuses on our call to be Holy, and how we are called to love one another unconditionally, just as our Lord loves us. The retreat is packed with talks, groups, mass, prayer time, singing, and other exciting activities. The encounter retreats are scheduled for November 17-19, January 19-21. Retreatants leave early Friday evening and return late Sunday afternoon.

Three years ago we started a new overnight retreat for freshmen. The theme of the retreat is "open your eyes", focusing on finding Jesus in every day activities such as nature, music and friends. God is present in so many ways in our lives and the retreat encourages the retreatants to find him in everyday things. The one-night retreats, only open to freshman, is scheduled for December 6-7. Retreatants leave Becahi in the early evening on Wednesday and return before dinner on Thursday.

After students have made a weekend retreat, they are welcome to join the retreat service team. The service team serves on all of the weekends and overnight retreats. They witness to the role Jesus plays in their lives and help others to grow closer to God. They also assist with setting up and cleaning up from all activities/meals on the weekend.

The adult team is comprised of teachers, alumni and parents. Many of the members of the adult team have been involved in the retreat for the numerous years and are dedicated to sharing God's Word with the others. For any information on the retreat, please contact Debbie DeSanto at 610-866-0791.
